Top 15 Performances We’re Looking Forward To At Master Musicians Festival In Somerset!

I’ve been blessed to be able to work with Master Musicians Festival. I was given the honor to be their staff photographer this year by Tiffany Finley. Many of you know Tiffany, but for those that don’t, she is the President of Master Musicians Festival. She is also an avid supporter of local music and all things Kentucky. What makes Master Musicians Festival (MMF) so unique? The Festival is ran by ALL volunteers. That’s right. ALL volunteers. From the local roller derby tending bar, high school football teams setting up and tearing down the stages, marching bands providing golf cart rides to folks like the Don Franklin family of dealerships…

ALBUM REVIEW: Sydney Adams Unleashes Her Debut EP ‘Always Home To Me’

There’s no better feeling than being contacted about an artist and the music is so good it makes ya cuss and that just happened. So here goes, hot damn do I have an artist for you today! Meet Sydney Adams. Sydney calls Corbin, Kentucky home and in time, she may make Corbin famous for way more than those eleven secret herbs and spices. She’s a young lady that is proud of her twang and she ain’t afraid of a steel guitar! If that doesn’t make ya wanna listen, then we really need to plan an intervention on behalf of your musical tastes, but I digress, back to the task at…

Cinder & Smoke Fest! We Went To Jackson And It Was Hotter Than A Pepper Sprout!

The Cinder & Smoke Fest is our baby here at Capture Kentucky. It was an idea that was born as an opportunity to showcase some of the great artists that we feature here. A way to bring our articles to life, if you will. Last year, it was held in Lexington at Proud Mary BBQ. We had a great first year and we loved the location, the people, the food and everything about Proud Mary. The decision to move Cinder & Smoke was made to allow us the freedom to move to a ticketed event, as Proud Mary BBQ prefers to simply have an open door policy. Enter Shawn &…

10 Songs To Look Forward To At Cinder & Smoke!

Our Cinder & Smoke Fest happens this Saturday, June 22nd. Capture Kentucky and Thatcher’s Downtown worked together to create a diverse lineup of artists that we each believe in. We feel that we did that and then some. We assembled one of the best lineups you’ll see all Summer and it will be awesome from top to bottom. We have T.A. Clayton & The Soulminers, Rhyan Sinclair, Eric Bolander, Chelsea Nolan, Short & Company, Laid Back Country Picker, Magnolia Boulevard and Arlo McKinley & the Lonesome Sound. That’s one stacked lineup and tickets are a mere $15 in advance or $20 at the door. (You can buy them here.) From…

Crack Open This Six Pack With No Deceit’s Allison Stafford

We’re starting a new series here at Capture Kentucky that will hopefully help introduce you to new artists, but to also allow you to get to know them a little better. It’s a series we’re gonna call Six Pack. Sure it’s an interview with six questions, but that’s not why we chose the name. Nope! We chose the name because of the Kenny Rogers classic movie by the same name. Today we bring to you a band that calls Campbellsville, Kentucky home. The band is called No Deceit and we feel that you’re gonna enjoy these folks. Led by the powerful vocals of Allison Stafford, No Deceit is a country…

    Friday’s Forgotten Gems: Dwight Yoakam

Music is a way of life here at Capture Kentucky. We love, live it and do our best to share it. While doing that, we’re often reminded of great songs, albums and artists that may or may not have had the success that we felt they deserved. It’s a series we’re calling “Friday’s Forgotten Gems!” This edition we revisit Kentucky legend Dwight Yoakam’s catalogue. Dwight has been on my mind the last few days since Campton, Kentucky’s Tyler Booth announced that he will be playing a few shows as an opener for Dwight.

Cutting Every Rug And Killin Every Jug With Ian Noe, Devon Gilfillian and Daisy Helmuth At The Burl

Sometimes an article needs time to simmer. Seeing Ian Noe at his CD release, processing what we experienced and turning that into an article has taken me a few days. It was one of those nights that will be talked about for years to come. I made a Facebook post on my personal page before the show that accurately described how the night felt. “Good morning to all the good people!! Today is the day we get to send off our next star out into the world! Come to The Burl and be a part of history with Ian Noe tonight!!” I often call The Burl our Mother Church. While…

Irvine’s Donnie Isaacs Releases ‘Duffle Bags’ With A Little Help From His Friend

One of the absolute greatest things that comes from a thing like Capture Kentucky is the relationships. We may not see each other for months, but we know who each other are and when we see each other, it’s like no time has passed and the conversation seems to pick up where it last left off. One such relationship began with a gentleman that simply enjoyed what we do here. We got to hang out several times at last year’s Kickin It On The Creek and then several online conversations came after. In those conversations, I was given the opportunity to read some lyrics and hear some song ideas that…

Exclusive Premiere: Hear Sour Cream’s “Come Again” Before Anyone Else!

We are very proud to be hosting the exclusive premiere of Sour Cream’s new single, “Come Again!” Lexington’s Sour Cream are one of the younger bands gigging, but they have the genes and abilities that have given them a definite upper hand. That’s why we proudly chose them to play our first Cinder & Smoke Festival last year. The band then went on to win Album Of The Year at the Lexington Music Awards. Not bad for a trio of teenagers, huh?
