Our Sunday Guide To The Must-See Artists At The 2021 Railbird Festival In Lexington!

Back in 2019, the grounds at Keeneland were invaded by music lovers from all over the United States. Their pilgrimage led them to the heart of the Bluegrass where Lexington finally hosted the music festival it deserves. You can read our recap and view our photos here.  There were many highlights that year, and the momentum heading into 2020 was obvious and mighty. Unfortunately, a pandemic interrupted all of our lives, but I’m happy to say that the Railbird Festival at Keeneland is back! After a year off due to the pandemic, live music is finally returning to the beautiful grounds at Keeneland and we’ve put together a list of the artists that you just have to see.

Now onto Sunday! I hate to break the news, but you’ll be forced to make some hard decisions once again on Sunday, but not as many as Saturday. For what it’s worth, having an amazing lineup is always a plus, but missing favorites will always hurt. We’ll try to help you make some sense of it all, and guide you through the final day at Railbird.

Our Saturday Guide To The Must-See Artists At The 2021 Railbird Festival In Lexington!

After a year off due to the pandemic, live music is finally returning to the beautiful grounds at Keeneland and we’ve put together a list of the artists that you just have to see.

Some tough decisions will definitely have to be made over the two-day festival. There’s just simply too much real estate to cover to see every act on all three stages, but hopefully we can help you sift and sort through the list and help you maximize your dollar.

Railbird is booked and managed by the same production company that is behind The Bonnaroo Festival and the Forecastle Festival in Louisville. AC Entertainment doesn’t have their finger on the pulse of music, they are the pulse. You can trust that any festival or venue that AC Entertainment runs, is worth your efforts to attend. (more…)

Album Review: Grayson Jenkins Is ‘Turning Tides’ With A Brand New Album And Tour In 2021

With several Kentuckians currently occupying spots on most any music chart you look at, one would have to agree that Kentucky holds an embarrassment of riches within her musical arms. The love and support of her music family finds a new way to impress me on a daily basis.

So I want to re-introduce you to a young man that is about to make his own push and hopefully climbs his way up a few of those charts himself. Grayson Jenkins may or may not be a new name to you, either way you’re gonna find something you’ll like on ‘Turning Tides.’ That’s the brand new album from Mr. Jenkins, which drops everywhere on August 27th. You Wanted The Best And You’ve Got It! The Best Photos From Capture Kentucky: 2019 Edition!

We did it!! Another year on the books as 2019 a tremendous year for Capture Kentucky. We helped shed some light on many of the deserving Kentuckians that occupied many different stages. We took in shows in Colorado, Tennessee, and of course Kentucky. 2020 will have us checking off another bucket list item, so stay tuned for that one!

We’re truly lucky and blessed to have several of the best photographers around contribute to Capture Kentucky. Folks like Thomas R. Biggs, Estill Robinson, and Mike Howard are flat-out amazing and I can not tell you just how lucky we are to have them as contributors. We may tell some pretty good tales, but our bread and butter are our photos here. So, I truly hope you the last year of work, and we look forward to continuing our goal, which is shining a deserving spotlight onto Kentucky artists. AND to help break the stereotypes that Hollywood can kiss my butt for.

Golden Nuggets!! Share In Kentucky’s Embarrassment Of Musical Riches From 2019!

The past year has seen several Kentuckians release some of our favorite music yet. The meteoric rise of Tyler Childers and the return of Sturgill Simpson were definite bright spots, but the introduction of several new artists make this a list that we’re extremely proud to present to you.

Please note that this isn’t a comprehensive list of every Kentucky artist that released music in 2019, this is just an overall summary of some of our favorites. Also, the music included below is in no particular order, we love ’em all equally, and hopefully you will as well!

We put together a Spotify playlist to accompany the article. Hope you enjoy!

Grayson Jenkins Delivers ‘Cowboy Dream’ With An All-Star Cast

Grayson Jenkins needs no introduction around here, but since we have a pretty decent amount of new folks, I’ll give ya the cliff notes version.

Grayson is yet another Kentuckian that deserves your attention. He’s been honing his skills for several years and he’s grown exponentially better as a vocalist over the last couple of years. (more…)

The Power Of The Female Voice Was On Full Display At The Sweet Thing Jamboree In Irvine

If you follow a vehicle with Delaware tags into Estill County, you know you’re in for a great time. Why? Because the tiny Appalachian town of Irvine is the heart and soul of our currently burgeoning musical community.

Sure larger cities host larger crowds and more famous bands, but Irvine is special and the folks from Delaware punctuate my point perfectly. Those folks drove to Irvine for one thing and one thing only, the music. I’ve said it a hundred times by now, but Kentucky is leading the charge in producing raw, genuine down-home, humble artists that forge bonds like the Grateful Dead did in San Francisco before taking on the world.

When you look for the spark that changed music as we know it in a few years, find a map and find Irvine. It’s tiny. It’s inspiring and it’s the incubator of future greatness.

Here at Capture Kentucky, I’ve set a few rules that are unconventional, but I truly hope to see others follow. One of the biggest ideas, is that every single show we put together will always feature at least one female artist. Like it or not, female artists do not get nearly the same amount of opportunities as the fellas do. I hope to help change that.
