Trans-Siberian Orchestra Rocks Rupp For The 21st Time!

As you walked into the fog-filled arena with the large hourglasses lighting up the stage, you knew you were in for a very special show. December 5th, 2019 was Trans Siberian Orchestra’s 21st performance in Lexington KY. Over 10,000 people showed up to enjoy “Christmas Eve and Other Stories.” The show began at an “Old City Bar.” Not what you would expect for a Christmas performance, but audience members were quickly transported through numerous tales of Christmas and Hope. Just like the hope provided to the Kentucky Children’s Hospital with the $7,765.00 donated by TSO.

Josh Brown & The Hard Livin’ Legends Brought “Thunder and Lightning”, Charlie Woods and Deep Hollow, And Brock Thompson To The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland

They say that Friday nights are made for fighting, but on this Friday night, there were 3 bands playing at The Paramount in Ashland, KY for all to enjoy. Josh Brown & The Hard Livin’ Legends were celebrating the release of their brand new album, “Thunder And Lightning”. The perfect title for an album full of songs about the storms of life. First up, was Brock Thompson! He started off strong with his own tunes, but when he threw in a few cover songs, like ‘Feathered Indians’ by Tyler Childers and then ‘Rodeo’ by Garth Brooks, that’s when the crowd was ready to part. Brock even gave us a listen…

Ringing In The New Year At Home With Tyler Childers At The Appalachian Wireless Arena In Pikeville

Okay, be honest, Pikeville Kentucky is not the first place that comes to mind when thinking about New Years Eve festivities. That thought belongs to a city square in a metropolis up north that has a population larger than the entire state of Kentucky. A party made famous by Dick Clark and carried on today by Ryan Seacrest and a host of other celebrities, but today on New Years Eve 2019 THE party is in Pikeville Kentucky! Because this New Years Eve here in Pikeville, Tyler Childers has gathered family and friends for the third and final sold-out party at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. He had fellow Kentuckian Darrell Scott…

EPIC!! The Knight Pikeville Got Shook By Tyler Childers

After a successful show on Friday night, the time had come for me to cover the second night of the Pikeville trifecta. On a personal level, this show was the show that I wanted to see the most. Why? Because Chris Knight is a Kentucky legend that I have never had the opportunity to see live, let alone photograph. Then you add in the firecracker that is Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, and that is one helluva way to enjoy your Saturday night.

Geminis, Creekers and Feathered Indians Mark Night One Of Three For Tyler Childers Triumphant Return Home

Being a Kentuckian from the Southeastern part of the state, is something that many folks like to look down upon. Hollywood loves stereotypes, but if Tyler Childers has his way, folks will soon understand just what an honor it really is to blessed to call the Appalachian Mountains our home. Childers is often mentioned in conversations as being the next Willie Nelson or whoever someone likes to toss out there. I’m here to say, let Tyler be the first Tyler Childers. Now having said that, there is one aspect that I too will use as a comparison between Willie and Tyler. Willie does things his way and often times his…

Black Stone Cherry Brought The Party To Pikeville To Close Out Their 2019 Tour

When someone says, “I’m headed out to a rock show.” Pikeville is usually not the first city you would think of, but on Sunday, Pikeville was THE place to be. Edmonton, Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry invaded the newly renamed Appalachian Wireless Arena. Sunday was the bands’ final performance of 2019, so you best believe they were ready and eager to take care of business, but before that could happen, another band of Kentuckians kicked the night off. The Josephines are a name

Charlie Daniels, The Kentucky Headhunters and Kaleb Lee Delight In Pikeville!

One of the things Jonathan told me he was looking for when I joined Capture Kentucky several years ago, was that if it was cool and happened in Kentucky or had a Kentucky connection he was interested. Let me ask you this and you tell me if this qualifies. I think I know the answer before I ask but here goes, does The Kentucky Headhunters playing on stage in the mountains of eastern Kentucky qualify as cool? Maybe an emerging artist in Kaleb Lee and former contestant on The Voice born in western Kentucky playing on that same stage, is that cool enough? Or to top Kaleb and The Headhunters,…

Blues Traveler Brings Magnolia Boulevard Home As They Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Of Their Album ‘Four’

Here at Capture Kentucky, the goal is always to help shine a positive light on Kentucky and her people. The greatest asset we have in our Commonwealth is by far and away, our people. Seeing people chasing their dreams and ultimately catching them is likely my favorite hobby. That’s why this Blues Traveler show was so important to me.

TOOL Brought Their ‘Fear Inoculum’ Tour To Cincinnati

TOOL. A simple name for a very complex band. A band that needs no introduction to any fan of rock, metal or prog, and especially to any musicians out there. The band recently made a stop in Cincinnati and we were lucky enough to be there to review the show. So let’s get started. In a recent interview, members of TOOL considered genre labels and how they apply to TOOL’s music. Feeling more kinship with Pink Floyd than Whitesnake, Danny Carey mentioned that he felt like TOOL wasn’t really a metal band in his mind. Discourse about genre labels will always continue, regardless of how futile, but TOOL is a…

That’s A Wrap! Chris Stapleton Returns To Kentucky With Brothers Osborne And Kendell Marvel At The KFC YUM Center

Y’all know I’m a sucker for concerts where we see a Kentuckian come home. We’ve covered many of ’em and one of our favorites will forever be Mr. Chris Stapleton. On Saturday night, Kentucky’s current King of Country Music returned to his home state and invaded the KFC YUM! Center with Brothers Osborne and Kendell Marvel. You may recognize the name Kendell Marvel, as we had the opportunity to interview Kendell here at Capture Kentucky. (You can read that here) Kendell is a pretty prolific songwriter in Nashville. He’s worked with Mr. Stapleton on many, many songs and he recently released a new album through Easy Eye Records. Working with…
