Ten Black Stone Cherry Songs That Flew Under The Radar

Let’s have some fun!!! I chose to feature 10 Black Stone Cherry songs that I personally feel have been massively overlooked and very underappreciated. I’m lucky to claim these fellas as friends and since I have a long history with the band, I felt that this article would be the perfect fuel to keep the Capture Kentucky (Lonely) Train rolling. Ha! This list will consist of some deep album cuts and some bonus tracks. I’ll also toss in my personal favorite Black Stone Cherry song to top it all off for ya. Sit back and let’s take a little musical trip as friends. Shall we?

Exclusive Premiere! Lexington’s Sour Cream Drops Their New Single, ‘Hey Holly’

Lexington’s Sour Cream is a band that has held my attention since I first read about them. I’m sure you’re curious where I first heard of them, so follow along for the next couple of paragraphs, you’ll appreciate this one or at least be intrigued by it. I have known several of the gentlemen in The Kentucky Headhunters for years. Guitarist Greg Martin is truly one of the most genuine, loving and positive individuals that I’ve ever had the pleasure to have met. I respect Greg on many levels, so trusting him when it comes to music, is an absolute no-brainer.

Charlie Daniels, The Kentucky Headhunters and Kaleb Lee Delight In Pikeville!

One of the things Jonathan told me he was looking for when I joined Capture Kentucky several years ago, was that if it was cool and happened in Kentucky or had a Kentucky connection he was interested. Let me ask you this and you tell me if this qualifies. I think I know the answer before I ask but here goes, does The Kentucky Headhunters playing on stage in the mountains of eastern Kentucky qualify as cool? Maybe an emerging artist in Kaleb Lee and former contestant on The Voice born in western Kentucky playing on that same stage, is that cool enough? Or to top Kaleb and The Headhunters,…

Meet Sour Cream As They Unleash Their Sweet Self-Titled Debut

It’s no secret that Kentucky has become a hotbed for talent over the last couple of years and I want to introduce you to one of the young guns. Meet Sour Cream. If you’ve followed the site, you may remember these guys from our Cinder & Smoke Fest earlier this year. If not, let me fill ya in a bit. Back in the late 1990’s the music scene in Lexington was booming with venues like The Wrocklage hosting tons of bands that have went on to become household names. The scene at that time had a few local bands that had a real shot at becoming a household name themselves.…

Lexington Brought The Love As Magnolia Boulevard Unleashed Their Debut EP

If you live in Kentucky, you need to be paying close attention to the musical community. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. There has likely never been a time where Kentucky has possessed more talent than she does right now. Seriously. Allow me to use Magnolia Boulevard as a shining example for ya. Kentucky shines with artists like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Black Stone Cherry and Tyler Childers at the top of their games while our legends continue to thrive. Loretta Lynn, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, The Kentucky Headhunters and many more are still performing to large crowds all over the world. While that’s truly wonderful, I want you to…

Black Stone Cherry Becomes The Band We All Dreamed Of With Family Tree

There are few bands that can even come close to deserving recognition as a true Southern rock band. The grit, the grime, the hard workin’ blue-collar work ethic that crafts such powerful anthems is often imitated, but rarely replicated. You need to live a Southern life to truly understand it and represent it to the masses. When Black Stone Cherry released their self-titled debut back in 2006, we all envisioned these guys as a new modern heavier version of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

This Museum In Kentucky Is A Must See!

Renfro Valley, Kentucky – Southeastern Kentucky has a rich musical history. The 144 mile stretch of Route 23 has such a storied history of producing musicians it is actually dubbed the Country Music Highway. So it should come as no surprise that the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame was placed near the Renfro Valley Entertainment Complex in Mount Vernon. Which sits just off of Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, roughly twenty miles north of London.
