The Smoke Rolls, While the Bourbon and Cash Flow

    May 11, 2017 /

The 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby was only my second experience at a horse race, preceded only by the Kentucky Oaks the day before. Nothing anyone could have told me would have prepared me for what was about to come when I woke up way too early to get into “Derby attire.” It was finally race day and it was time to make the drive up to Louisville for the most exciting two minutes in sports.

    May 7, 2017 /

Renfro Valley, Kentucky – Southeastern Kentucky has a rich musical history. The 144 mile stretch of Route 23 has such a storied history of producing musicians it is actually dubbed the Country Music Highway. So it should come as no surprise that the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame was placed near the Renfro Valley Entertainment Complex in Mount Vernon. Which sits just off of Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, roughly twenty miles north of London.

    May 4, 2017 /

Saturday Night Special! Lynyrd Skynyrd featuring Black Stone Cherry at the Corbin Arena.

    May 1, 2017 /

Corbin, Kentucky – Kentucky has produced many musicians and bands that people have loved over time. None on the scale of Southern Rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Then again, few places have produced a band with the talent and longevity of Skynyrd. One band in particular that Kentucky has produced, is Black Stone Cherry. They’re often described as a modern day Lynyrd Skynyrd, on steroids. They’ve created a sound that’s definitely akin to Skynyrd, but has modern elements that have created a sound undeniably their own.
