The Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music Series #2 Featuring Shannon McNally w/ The Seth Ferguson Experience
Recently, I founnd myself back in Whitesburg for the second installment of the ten-week Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music series (http://concerts.levittamp.org/whitesburg).
This week we switch from bluegrass to rock, country, Americana and a little blues. No rain or overcast skies this time around, the weather was perfect! That perfect weather brought out a decent crowd for this week’s free concert.
Starting off this week’s show is The Seth Ferguson Experience a rock band from just up the road in Paintsville, Kentucky. A really solid band! They played mostly original tunes and a killer cover of Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold”. Several songs from their debut album Seth Ferguson ‘Man Vs Guitar‘ including “Secret Admiration” “Hello, Again” and “Dark Night of the Soul”, before closing out their set with a track off of a live recording, ‘Live @ HBD 2018‘ “The Game”. If they are going to be in your area go out and give them a listen. I think, like me, you’ll be a new fan!
Tonight’s headliner Shannon McNally an Americana/Blues artist stopped off in Whitesburg as part of the Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music Series. She’s been touring in support of her latest album
‘Black Irish‘. With upcoming tour stops in New York, Canada, Oregon and Washington, she was kind enough to spend a few minutes with all of us here in Whitesburg!
Shannon started off her set with “You Made Me Feel For You” the first track on ‘Black Irish‘. She would pause between songs to talk with the crowd, she and her band seemed to be enjoying this beautiful evening performing outside. Shannon and her band did a nice cover of the Merle Haggard song “The Bottle Let Me Down” and a couple more from ‘Black Irish‘, “Banshee Moan” and “It Makes a Difference” were mixed into a great set of music.
This night of music came to close just as the sun was starting to set. It was a great night to be out listening to live music in Whitesburg, KY! Eight more weeks left in the series with a wide variety of musical genres yet to come. There should be something to appeal to everyone, so come on out and enjoy the shows!
