We’ve already seen the rise of several Kentucky artists and we feel there are plenty more on the horizon. Having said that, here is a list of the top 15 moments we were privileged to be a part of over the last two years! First, an honorable mention. We created the Cinder & Smoke Fest which was held at Proud Mary BBQ in Lexington in 2018. It was the culmination of many months of work and it is something…

A Revival Like No Other At Cosmic Charlie’s
The Kentucky music family came together to celebrate St. Patty’s Day with the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival as the soundtrack. From well-known artists to supporters of this site that have nearly no experience performing, this bill was truly a community effort and that was absolutely by design. Now you may ask why would I give performance spots to someone with little to no experience. It’s really simple, I enjoy helping people. Especially those that are supportive of me. I’m not saying that the next Elvis Presley played on Sunday, but several folks got the opportunity to not only perform but to perform to a crowd. If I spark one…

Who Is The Next Star From Kentucky?
I want to tell you folks a little story. About 10 years or so ago, there was a show in Campton, Kentucky. Campton’s pride at the time was Stitch Rivet. Also on the bill were Lexington’s Valrosa and Florida’s Stereoside. That show was important for a whole slew of reasons, but I want to tell a story about a young man that rocked out as hard as anyone that day. This young man absolutely loved Stitch Rivet and Valrosa. He was front and center for most of the show. Just so happens, this young man’s Uncle

The lineup includes legends like Otis Williams (of Cincinnati’s King Records fame) and
The Who, What, When, Where And Why. The Kentucky Takeover In Nashville At Marathon Music Works
When I was approached about helping Whiskey | Soldier develop Kentucky Takeover, my mind, as it often does, began racing at all of the potential opportunities. As our conversations progressed, the two things that I locked in on were simple. 1. How can I help make this a yearly event so we can funnel Kentucky’s talent to Nashville? 2. Who best represents the music happening in our Commonwealth? Dan Collins (Whiskey | Soldier) and I came up with some really good ideas that I truly believe will make this show not only successful, but also sustainable. It’s one thing to dream something up, but it’s even more difficult to make…

Brooks & Dunn Are Back! This Time They Have One Of Kentucky’s Brightest Young Stars In Tow!
If you’ve been under a rock all your life, please allow me to fill you in on Brooks & Dunn. Arguably, they’re one of, if not the most, recognizable duo in Country Music history. With 20+ number one hits, Brooks & Dunn were on the top of the Country music world for over 20 years. Then, in 2009 the duo announced an amicable split. After pursuing solo careers, it seems the guys have found some fuel to
The Power Of The Female Voice Was On Full Display At The Sweet Thing Jamboree In Irvine
If you follow a vehicle with Delaware tags into Estill County, you know you’re in for a great time. Why? Because the tiny Appalachian town of Irvine is the heart and soul of our currently burgeoning musical community. Sure larger cities host larger crowds and more famous bands, but Irvine is special and the folks from Delaware punctuate my point perfectly. Those folks drove to Irvine for one thing and one thing only, the music. I’ve said it a hundred times by now, but Kentucky is leading the charge in producing raw, genuine down-home, humble artists that forge bonds like the Grateful Dead did in San Francisco before taking on…
