Last year, we were invited to cover Kickin’ It On The Creek. It’s an event that is flat-out magical. For a music junkie like myself, Kickin’ It is our Disney World. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Little Ross Creek is the home of the Roberts family. Over the last five years, every September, the Roberts farm transforms into the heart and soul of the thriving Kentucky music community. Lexington, Kentucky has never seen anything like the inaugural Railbird Festival. Over the last few decades, Lexington has had some great success in cultivating talent that goes on to become household names. What Lexington has not had, is a true destination festival. Capture Kentucky began shortly before Childers debut ‘Purgatory’ hit the “Outer-Commonwealth”, so we’ve been fortunate to cover Tyler in many different settings, including his Grand Ole Opry debut. Ralbird is a brand new music festival that will take place at the grounds of Keeneland. Which is right here in the very center of our great Commonwealth. Produced by AC Entertainment, who also produces Forecastle and Bonnaroo, decided to embrace three of Kentucky’s best exports in music, horses and bourbon. They also brought in West Sixth Brewing and our own little Mother Church in The Burl. I’m guessing that after that last paragraph that you’re now all in.
