It can’t be any different than every other music festival.” That’s where you’re wrong and if you choose to believe that and close this article now, it is 100% your loss. Now don’t get me wrong here as we get started, large festivals have an importance and they serve their purpose well, but with these articles, I want to show you that what I say is the Gospel truth. Do’s, Don’ts And Must-See Artists At Kickin’ It On The Creek

Last year, we were invited to cover Kickin’ It On The Creek. It’s an event that is flat-out magical. For a music junkie like myself, Kickin’ It is our Disney World. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Little Ross Creek is the home of the Roberts family. Over the last five years, every September, the Roberts farm transforms into the heart and soul of the thriving Kentucky music community. With a stage in the front yard, the acreage welcomes roughly 1500 fans and artists. Kickin’ It On The Creek sold-out this year without even announcing the lineup. Read that again, Kickin’ It On The Creek sold-out this year…

Arthur Hancock Is Taking Us Back To The Country With ‘Alive At Hillbilly Central’

Arthur Hancock is a name that you likely know, but if not let me fill ya in a bit. Arthur is a Kentuckian that has helped create a ton of music that has provided the soundtrack to many of our road trips around here. From his time with Tyler Childers in the band High Wall to the progressive bluegrass sounds of The Wooks, Arthur has the respect of his peers and the adoration of his fans. Things changed for Arthur and he decided to step back and reevaluate his path. Once a prominent banjo player, Arthur suffered a thumb injury and was forced to move to only playing the guitar.…

    Friday’s Forgotten Gems: Chasing Layne

Music is a way of life here at Capture Kentucky. We love, live it and do our best to share it. While doing that, we’re often reminded of great songs, albums and artists that may or may not have had the success that we felt they deserved. It’s a series we’re calling “Friday’s Forgotten Gems!” There have been way too many bands that should’ve made it, but unfortunately didn’t. One such band was Mt. Hermon, KY’s Chasing Layne. These guys were all terrific musicians with a knack for writing catchy, powerful and memorable songs. This song, in particular, has always been a shining example of said bands that should’ve made…

And They’re Off! The Inaugural Railbird Festival At Keeneland

Lexington, Kentucky has never seen anything like the inaugural Railbird Festival. Over the last few decades, Lexington has had some great success in cultivating talent that goes on to become household names. What Lexington has not had, is a true destination festival. Unlike Louisville that hosts the Forecastle Festival and several Danny Wimmer Productions. That all changed when AC Entertainment (Promoters of Forecastle and Bonnaroo) partnered up with Keeneland. Let’s be honest, horses and bourbon are what most folks associate with Kentucky. Music though, isn’t too far behind in terms of exports. Kentucky has produced artists like John Michael Montgomery, Montgomery Gentry, Sundy Best, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and of…

We’re cracking open this six pack with Monkeys Eyebrow, Kentucky’s own Kelsey Waldon. If you aren’t familiar with Kelsey, shame on you!! Album Review: Tyler Childers Delivers The Goods With ‘Country Squire’

If you’re a reader of this site, you’re likely aware of Mr. Tyler Childers. Capture Kentucky began shortly before Childers debut ‘Purgatory’ hit the “Outer-Commonwealth”, so we’ve been fortunate to cover Tyler in many different settings, including his Grand Ole Opry debut. Having said that, it is an incredible honor to be reviewing Childers latest release in ‘Country Squire.’

EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Clayton Crowder Shines With His New EP ‘Bones’

Western Kentucky has always been good to me. I’ve made many friends in that area over the years. Some of which are very dear to me. *cough* Chris Bratcher *cough* One fella that I really enjoyed and I made a point to keep up with, is Bowling Green’s Clayton Crowder. I worked a bit with Bowling Green’s legendary Sixth Floor back in the day. Wade England was a member of Sixth Floor, playing bass or guitar when needed. So once they parted ways, Wade created a new band called Undead Anna. Undead Anna featured Clayton playing rhythm guitar and providing the vocals. I really enjoyed Crowder’s stage presence and vocals…

RAILBIRD GUIDE: 21 Must See Artists At The Railbird Festival

Ralbird is a brand new music festival that will take place at the grounds of Keeneland. Which is right here in the very center of our great Commonwealth. Produced by AC Entertainment, who also produces Forecastle and Bonnaroo, decided to embrace three of Kentucky’s best exports in music, horses and bourbon. They also brought in West Sixth Brewing and our own little Mother Church in The Burl. I’m guessing that after that last paragraph that you’re now all in. So I thought it would be a great idea to put together a list of artists that we feel simply can not be missed at Railbird.
