Black Stone Cherry’s Kentucky Pride Was On Full Display At The Paramount In Ashland

For a nice warm Friday night, the Paramount Arts Center was the place to be, and for the number of people that showed up, they knew it was going to be a good time! It was a night full of some good ol’ Southern Rock music! The first band to get on stage was none other than Northeastern Kentucky’s very own Devil’s Creek Special! They opened up for The Georgia Thunderbolts and Black Stone Cherry, but with the amount of energy that they had you would’ve thought they were headlining. And they had a killer cover of “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash, and the Paramount was in a full swing sing-a-long with the band!

Kentucky’s Newest Rising Son. Cole Chaney Delivers ‘Mercy’ With His Debut Release.

I’m a firm believer that great music will find you if you’re willing to listen. In the case of Cole Chaney, I heard his name long before I ever heard a song. Josh Brown & The Hard Livin’ Legends Brought “Thunder and Lightning”, Charlie Woods and Deep Hollow, And Brock Thompson To The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland

They say that Friday nights are made for fighting, but on this Friday night, there were 3 bands playing at The Paramount in Ashland, KY for all to enjoy. Josh Brown & The Hard Livin’ Legends were celebrating the release of their brand new album, “Thunder And Lightning”. The perfect title for an album full of songs about the storms of life.

First up, was Brock Thompson! He started off strong with his own tunes, but when he threw in a few cover songs, like ‘Feathered Indians’ by Tyler Childers and then ‘Rodeo’ by Garth Brooks, that’s when the crowd was ready to part. Brock even gave us a listen to a new song he had been working on. His energy on the stage was electrifying! This young man loves what he’s doing and will do his best to make you love it as well. Huntington can claim a good one in Brock Thompson! (more…)

Country Superstar Dwight Yoakam Comes Home To Kentucky For A Wild Ride In Ashland

On a chilly Sunday evening, I got the chance to do one of my favorite things on Earth. I got to see one of the many talented performers that our great Commonwealth has produced, back home here in Kentucky. Dwight Yoakam played to a sold-out crowd at the beautiful Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, KY.

This was my first trip to the Paramount and it was also my first time seeing Dwight Yoakam. Neither would disappoint on this night. The Paramount is a beautifully preserved theater. It’s like walking back in time to a 1930’s era “Movie House”. It’s a bit art deco with beautiful murals adorning the walls and ceilings. It’s also home to the friendliest staff that I’ve ever worked with. They truly made me feel at home. (more…)
