A Night With The Master Musicians Festival At The Burl Takeover
Somerset, Kentucky is a small city that many others could learn from. They have found their niche and are thriving. You could take a trip to Lake Cumberland to relax. You could enjoy one of many Somernites Cruises. Maybe you would prefer to enjoy the SomerSplash waterpark. For my money, you need to make the trip to Somerset on July 13th and 14th. That’s when the 25th edition of the Master Musicians Festival takes place. This year’s headliner is folk legend John Prine. That should be enough of an incentive to go, but if not, allow me to talk some sense into ya. In addition to Mr. Prine, you’ll also…

Metal Icons Slayer Brought Their Farewell Tour To Riverbend In Cincinnati With Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Testament And Behemoth
Few metal bands can lay claim to level of notoriety that Slayer has garnered over their careers. Slayer is the mold, the pattern, the standard for dark and brooding metal. From the spikes often worn by Kerry King, the “blood” falling down on the crowd during “Reign In Blood”, and the bass playing intimidating front man in Tom Araya, there are lots of things to see and hear at a Slayer. We were honored to be able capture this iconic tour. We hope you enjoy the galleries!

Kentucky’s Tyler Childers Needs Your Help
Unless you live under a rock, you have heard and hopefully seen Mr. Tyler Childers by now. His meteoric rise has been well documented, but that’s exactly why he needs your help. Over the past year, many great things have happened for Tyler. He has shared the stage with John Prine, debuted on the Grand Ole Opry, played the Ryman and has played many, many sold-out shows. All of which were documented in a very personal way on Tyler’s Instagram. Now it seems, it has been erased by a hacker. The biggest year of this wonderful man’s life and some a$$hole stole his account and has been deleting his memories.…

Just What We Needed. A Recap Of Our Networking Night At Austin City Saloon.
When I created Capture Kentucky, I had several ideas and paths that I planned on taking. The site was created to showcase anything and everything that we felt made Kentucky cool. We’ve tried our hand at covering different events like NASCAR, Flat Track Motorcycle Racing, World of Outlaws Racing, a Ballet, the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame, several festivals, MLB and MiLB Baseball, Car Shows, a Motorcycle Club Ride, the WWE, a Fire Station and even Keeneland. We’ve also covered tons of great concerts.

Twenty Ways To Improve The Musical Community And Advance Your Career In Kentucky
Sometimes, the most simple ideas can become one of the most incredible things that you’ve ever been a part of. In this instance, it was a simple idea for a networking night for the Kentucky musical community. On Sunday, my good friend, Austin Brashear, allowed Capture Kentucky to essentially takeover Austin City Saloon. He did so because he believes in not only Capture Kentucky, but the talent that Kentucky currently possesses. As folks began trickling in, it wasn’t before we both realized that we were onto something special. We were greeted by singer/songwriter types, local legends, music professors, rock and rollers, blues men, lovely female voices of all types and…

Lexington Brought The Love As Magnolia Boulevard Unleashed Their Debut EP
If you live in Kentucky, you need to be paying close attention to the musical community. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. There has likely never been a time where Kentucky has possessed more talent than she does right now. Seriously. Allow me to use Magnolia Boulevard as a shining example for ya. Kentucky shines with artists like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Black Stone Cherry and Tyler Childers at the top of their games while our legends continue to thrive. Loretta Lynn, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, The Kentucky Headhunters and many more are still performing to large crowds all over the world. While that’s truly wonderful, I want you to…

Doing It His Way. Tyler Childers Takes Nashville By Storm.
The music industry is a very strange place most of the time. Long gone are the days of record labels signing a young band or artist to a developmental deal. Most labels want to get their hands on an already established and somewhat successful artist that way it is a quick way to recoup the funds it takes to break an emerging artist. It’s definitely a sound business decision for them, but the industry has changed tremendously over the past few years and the days of taking chances on signing folks to a developmental deal are long gone. Few folks are actually good enough to cut through all the clutter…
