Christmas is a holiday that means different things to different people. It’s the time of year, no matter what a person’s belief system may be, they try and treat people how we should treat people everyday. In the cold and often bitter winter season, the human spirit brightens up our world and reminds us all of our humanity and allows us to show our appreciation to those we love.
Christmas in Hollywood captures that spirit and then serves it back to us in the form of heartwarming stories of love, family and often times nostalgia. That’s where Medina, Ohio enters this article.
Wait, what? That’s right, Medina, Ohio. See, the outlying suburb of Cleveland and/or Akron is the home of Castle Noel. A magical place full of movie memorabilia that will warm any heart and provide smiles for all those who enter. You’ll find something from just about any of your favorite holiday classics. From “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” to “A Christmas Story” to “Elf” to “A Christmas Carol” to “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and everywhere in-between, you’re not going home with a frown and that’s a promise. There’s no better way to spend a warm Summer night, than taking in some of the best talent in the world. I truly enjoyed taking these photos and I hope you enjoy them!
JJ Grey & Mofro:
David Byrne brought his American Utopia tour to Riverbend in Cincinnati, OH. Byrne made his name as the founder of the Talking Heads and has created some of the most quirky, intelligent and recognizable music in the world. We hope you enjoy the photos!
We were excited to cover the INKcarceration Festival in Mansfield, OH, but we had no idea that it would turn out to be the best festival experience that we have experienced.
I am not the biggest fan of festivals, so I sometimes find myself looking at the negatives. I fell into that trap about 8 PM on Saturday, but in all honesty, I really didn’t have anything to bitch about outside of the heat. Now you’re probably saying to yourself, this guy is just kissing ass. I will tell you 100% that is completely inaccurate. I am just like you. I am a fan first, a journalist second. I have my preferences just like you do. I’ve experienced many festivals over the years, but none hold a candle to the INKcarceration Festival. Why? I’m glad you asked. Here are 10 reasons why you should go. (more…)
The 80’s produced some hideous outfits, but the “hairband era” produced many solid acts that truly never received the love and respect they deserved. At the top of that list, Poison. These folks made hit after hit seem easy. They brought their recent tour to Riverbend in Cincinnati with special guests, Rock and Roll Hall Of Famers Cheap Trick and the always amazing Pop Evil. I hope you enjoy my gallery as much as I did capturing the photos! (more…)
Capture Kentucky is proud to present a new series that we’re calling, “On The Road”. While our main focus will always be all the things that make our Commonwealth so great, we will be posting articles that feature things we see and do within our travels outside our home.
In this first installment, we took the short trip across the mighty Ohio River into Cincinnati. It’s there where we made our way to The Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. While the majority of the Museum is under a long renovation, the Children’s Museum and the traveling Smithsonian exhibit that features Star Wars and the Power of Costume are both open for business.
This article is all about the latter. Star Wars and the Power of Costume is an exhibit, that on its surface may seem a bit pricey, but I’m here to tell you and show you that it is money well-spent. Even if you are just a casual fan of the Star Wars franchise or if you happen to be a die-hard fan, rest assured there is something there for everyone. The best part? No Jar Jar Binks! Haha (more…)
