Cinder & Smoke Fest! We Went To Jackson And It Was Hotter Than A Pepper Sprout!
The Cinder & Smoke Fest is our baby here at Capture Kentucky. It was an idea that was born as an opportunity to showcase some of the great artists that we feature here. A way to bring our articles to life, if you will. Last year, it was held in Lexington at Proud Mary BBQ. We had a great first year and we loved the location, the people, the food and everything about Proud Mary. The decision to move Cinder & Smoke was made to allow us the freedom to move to a ticketed event, as Proud Mary BBQ prefers to simply have an open door policy. Enter Shawn &…

Music Rules! Our Recap Of The Music Rules Fest At The Jenny Wiley Amphitheatre
The Music Rules Fest is a partnership between the Mountain Arts Center and Capture Kentucky. It is an event that I am incredibly proud of and that’s exactly why this article has been so difficult for me to write. The City of Prestonsburg now has control of the Jenny Wiley Amphitheatre, which is located in the gorgeous Jenny Wiley State Park. They have allowed the Mountain Arts Center to run the venue as a sister venue to the 1044 seated theatre at the MAC. The city has begun a remodel of the venue and there are plans to further improve the amphitheater. Restoring it to it’s once prominent place in…

Tyler Childers Comes Home To Kentucky To Ring In The New Year With Three Sold-Out Performances At The Louisville Palace
If you’re a reader of this site, you’ve likely read one of the many articles that I have written about Kentucky’s newest favorite son, Tyler Childers. If this is your first time here, feel free to take a look around, but more importantly, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy what we do here. When an artist returns to their home state, it is always a love fest and attending those shows are my favorite activity in life. I’ve seen wonderfully talented folks return home for a show. Folks like Dwight Yoakam, Sundy Best, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, The Kentucky Headhunters, Black Stone Cherry and of course, Mr.…

Oh What A Year In Pictures! Capture Kentucky 2018 Edition
I debated on putting this photo recap together, but oh what a year it was! We had a ton of fun and there were waaaaaay more photos that I wanted to include, but I tried to just do some highlights and favorites for everyone. My goodness, Kentucky is absolutely loaded with talent and we had an almost overwhelming amount of support in 2018. We truly can’t thank you enough and we promise to work even harder in 2019 to not only cover your favorite artists, but to create events and to shine a little light on the wonderful talent in Kentucky. Thanks for everything and we’ll see you at the…

Twenty-five years. Seems like forever one you’re a kid, but as an adult, those years seemingly pass overnight. I went down to celebrate the occasion and show support for a wonderful event ran by even better people. I hope you enjoy the photos!

A Night With The Master Musicians Festival At The Burl Takeover
Somerset, Kentucky is a small city that many others could learn from. They have found their niche and are thriving. You could take a trip to Lake Cumberland to relax. You could enjoy one of many Somernites Cruises. Maybe you would prefer to enjoy the SomerSplash waterpark. For my money, you need to make the trip to Somerset on July 13th and 14th. That’s when the 25th edition of the Master Musicians Festival takes place. This year’s headliner is folk legend John Prine. That should be enough of an incentive to go, but if not, allow me to talk some sense into ya. In addition to Mr. Prine, you’ll also…
