Kickin’ It On The Creek 2018 – Friday Edition
Kickin’ On The Creek is one of the most difficult festivals that I have ever been asked to describe. Why you ask? Thank goodness! I wasn’t sure how to move forward. So I’ll start here, family. The Roberts family has turned their beautiful homestead into a music venue. Wait, what? No seriously. Hear me out. Deep in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, part of the Daniel Boone Forest, technically in Lee County, Byron Roberts and his family have seriously turned their home into a music venue. What seems impossible is actually flat-out magical. Give me another example of such selflessness. I’ll wait…..You have nothing? That’s what I thought. The…

Cinder & Smoke Fest Delivers A Community Effort That Felt More Like A Family Reunion Than A Music Festival
If you’re reading this, thank you. Here at Capture Kentucky, building a strong community of like-minded individuals who share their affinity for Kentucky is the core of what we are trying to do. From that simple idea, the Cinder & Smoke Fest was born and I don’t think we could have ever imagined the outpouring of love that took place at Proud Mary BBQ on Sunday. Especially for an event in its first year with a small budget and a free show. For me, it was validation for what we’re doing. I feel that people are seeing the benefits of us all working together and it’s a beautiful thing. My…

SOLD OUT!! Crowder Raises The Roof And Spirits At The Mountain Arts Center In Prestonsburg
When it comes to Contemporary Christian music, few names are bigger than that of Crowder. Crowder is the last name and moniker used by Mr. David Crowder. He rose to prominence as the frontman of the David Crowder Band. A position he held until 2012 when the band decided it was time to move on. David then pursued a solo career and Crowder is the end result. The Texas native is well known for his energetic performances and wonderful message as a fellowship leader, so I was excited…

Lexington Unites In Love, Respect And Music For A Celebration Of The Highwaymen And The Women Who Loved Them
Capture Kentucky was created as a creative outlet for my photography. I wanted the opportunity to try my hand at photographing as many different events and attractions as possible. I simply wanted to grow as an artist myself. I knew that I would eventually end up leaning on music, but what I didn’t know, was just how much Capture Kentucky would mean to everyone else. On Sunday, August 12th, the musical community came out in full force and drove home just how much the work we do here means. This article has been a huge challenge for me because I want to make sure the community knows that the love…

On The Road: The Hinterland Festival Featuring Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Blackberry Smoke, Wheeler Walker, Jr. And More In St. Charles, Iowa
I know what you’re thinking. What in tarnation is Capture Kentucky doing in Iowa? The simple answer is the Hinterland Festival. The true reason is that I had the incredibly rare opportunity to make a very long trek to see three unique Kentucky artists surrounded by some of my personal favorite artists on this planet that we call Earth. Do I have your attention yet? Good. The Hinterland Festival is a two-day event that has created one of the best lineups that I have ever seen put together. While we weren’t able to stay for the Friday night event that included Ancient Posse, Tash Sultana, Chvrches, and Band Of Horses.…
