Y’all know I’m a sucker for concerts where we see a Kentuckian come home. We’ve covered many of ’em and one of our favorites will forever be Mr. Chris Stapleton.
On Saturday night, Kentucky’s current King of Country Music returned to his home state and invaded the KFC YUM! Center with Brothers Osborne and Kendell Marvel.
You may recognize the name Kendell Marvel, as we had the opportunity to interview Kendell here at Capture Kentucky. (You can read that here)
Kendell is a pretty prolific songwriter in Nashville. He’s worked with Mr. Stapleton on many, many songs and he recently released a new album through Easy Eye Records. Working with Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys, Marvel released ‘Solid Gold Sounds’. (more…)
Black Stone Cherry are a band that I hold dearly next to my heart. I’ve seen these young men perform more than any other artists out there.
Having said that, there’s got to be a good reason, right? Well there definitely is. These four young men have pumped out some of the beqst music around for the last 13 years. They know who they are, but they also know (more…)
Kentucky Music is absolutely on fire! We’ve shared a ton of new music over the last couple of weeks and I’ve got ya one more to check out.
Brad Hardin has quickly became a mainstay at the one and only Austin City Saloon. The proving grounds of many artists as they’ve grown into their abilities. Folks Like Greg Austin, John Michael Montgomery, Montgomery Gentry, George Molton, Sturgill Simpson and more recently Dillon Carmichael and Tyler Booth, have all graced the corner stage at Austin City Saloon.
Today is a HUGE day for Kentucky music. With several artists dropping new music, it can get difficult to keep up. Having said that, I plead with you to not overlook The Local Honeys new album ‘The Gospel’.
All Kentucky music is important, but The Local Honeys are one of the most important Kentucky artists making music today. Not only do they help keep Appalachian music and Bluegrass music alive, they also honor it’s tradition. And you can not put a price on that my friends.’The Gospel’ is a collection of songs old and new.
I have had the good fortune of being involved with several artists over my lifetime. Many have “made it”, many more have not. None have matured faster or made greater strides than Wolfe County Kentucky’s Tyler Booth.
I met Tyler when he was around 10 years old. I knew his Dad, Jason Booth, as we both worked with bands and venues promoting our friends and in J’s case, family. (more…)
Kentucky is the home or birthplace of some of the best musicians to ever grace this planet. That’s not hyperbole. That’s fact.
Allow me to site some examples of some names you may recognize. Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton, Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs, The Judds, Sturgill Simpson, Dwight Yoakam, Tyler Childers, Cage The Elephant, My Morning Jacket, Roscoe Holcomb, The Kentucky Headhunters, Patty Loveless, Bryson Tiller, John Michael Montgomery, Dillon Carmichael, Knocked Loose, Emarosa, Nappy Roots, Carly Pearce, Montgomery Gentry, Exile, White Reaper, Days Of The New, Tantric, John Conlee…should I go on?
What you’ll notice about that list is it is a wide variety of music. There’s bluegrass, country, rock, metal, rap and about any other genre you could think of. (more…)
Nashville, Tennessee is the undisputed center of the Country Music universe. There are a million reasons that Nashville is one of the fastest-growing cities in our Republic with more and more people seeking opportunities to chase their dreams than ever before.
Artists, musicians, songwriters, videographers, photographers, dancers, you name it, have packed up and placed their bets on Nashville.
One artist that made the move several years ago, is Kendell Marvel. Marvel moved South from his home state of Illinois. He then had some early success as a songwriter. He penned one of my favorite Gary Allan songs in “Right Where I Need To Be.”
With that success, Marvel has gone on to work with folks like George Strait, Jake Owen, and Jamey Johnson.
By now, you’re likely wondering why I’m writing about an Illinois songwriter that lives in Nashville. Why should you care? I’m glad you asked, and I’ll happily fill ya in. (more…)
