Mr. Big – Defying Gravity (Album Review)

Mr. Big is a band that rose to prominence back in 1992. Their sound was all over the radio, MTV and even late night television back in the day. Songs like “To Be With You”, “Just Take My Heart” and “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind” brought them world-wide recognition. Shining a bright light on an incredibly talented group of musicians that includes Eric Martin (Vocals), Billy Sheehan (Bass), Paul Gilbert (Guitar) and Pat Torpey (Drums). Sheehan and Gilbert are often highly ranked on lists of the greatest musicians to ever pick up an instrument and rightfully so. Both are as unique as they come, but their ability to meld their talents behind those great melodies and harmonies makes for a truly dynamic duo. Multi-Platinum Selling Mr. Big Does Their Best To Bring Down The Manchester Music Hall

It’s not often that a multi-platinum artist visits a small venue like Manchester Music Hall in Lexington, but when it happens, it’s always special. The dense crowd was hanging onto every word and sang-along much of the night with vocalist Eric Martin of Mr. Big. The fact that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more talented group than Mr. Big seemingly wasn’t lost on the Lexington crowd. As they all enjoyed the virtuoso performances provided by Paul Gilbert and bass-playing extraordinaire, Billy Sheehan. Lexington was thrilled to host these guys and by the photos, I’m sure you can tell that they were more than happy with their acceptance. From jazz fusion, to instrumentals, to ballads, to playing in Poison then Mr. Big, to forming the supergroup The Winery Dogs, Mr. Kotzen has earned the right to play anything he wants.
