I’ve been involved in music for a very long time. I’ve seen many careers blossom, and many more fizzle out. I’m a bit jaded at times because of that, BUT when I hear a song or an artist that immediately stands the hairs up on my neck and arms, I know my gut is telling me something. Lexington Brought The Love As Magnolia Boulevard Unleashed Their Debut EP

If you live in Kentucky, you need to be paying close attention to the musical community. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. There has likely never been a time where Kentucky has possessed more talent than she does right now. Seriously. Allow me to use Magnolia Boulevard as a shining example for ya.

Kentucky shines with artists like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Black Stone Cherry and Tyler Childers at the top of their games while our legends continue to thrive. Loretta Lynn, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, The Kentucky Headhunters and many more are still performing to large crowds all over the world. While that’s truly wonderful, I want you to focus more on the artists still trying to get to their levels. Remember, every single musician on this planet was once a local musician. (more…)

Dancing The Night Away With Magnolia Boulevard At The Burl

If you’ve seen this site before, you’ll know the concept. I find Kentucky bands and artists that I feel need a little spotlight and I do my best to convey the reasons you should care. My motto is pretty simple, support the artists or lose the art. That should be a pretty compelling argument, but I’m sure you’ll want more, so let’s get started.

One of the bands that have been on my radar for some time, is Lexington’s Magnolia Boulevard. I’ve watched several performances on the ole Tube of You, but I just hadn’t had the opportunity to catch them live. Thankfully though, that all changed on Saturday night at The Burl.
