On The Road: The Hinterland Festival Featuring Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Blackberry Smoke, Wheeler Walker, Jr. And More In St. Charles, Iowa

I know what you’re thinking. What in tarnation is Capture Kentucky doing in Iowa? The simple answer is the Hinterland Festival. The true reason is that I had the incredibly rare opportunity to make a very long trek to see three unique Kentucky artists surrounded by some of my personal favorite artists on this planet that we call Earth.

Do I have your attention yet? Good. The Hinterland Festival is a two-day event that has created one of the best lineups that I have ever seen put together. While we weren’t able to stay for the Friday night event that included Ancient Posse, Tash Sultana, Chvrches, and Band Of Horses. We were able to catch everyone on Saturday. We saw sets from Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Blackberry Smoke, Anderson East, Margo Price, J. Roddy Walston And The Business and as a nightcap in the campground, Wheeler Walker, Jr.! A little piece of Kentucky Heaven in the beauty of Iowa.

Make sense why Capture Kentucky was in Iowa now? Good! Now let’s talk a bit about the Hinterland Festival itself. (more…)

Join Us At Rupp Arena On Friday For Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi And The Steel Woods!

Miranda Lambert has been on the road early in 2018 on her new “Livin’ Like Hippies” tour. You’d be hard-pressed to name a female act bigger than she is in Country Music. So her stop in Lexington at Rupp Arena on Friday is a pretty dog-gone big deal. So join us for a performance from Scott Said & Backroads in the Civic Center before the show. Then join us inside as one of my favorite bands, The Steel Woods opens up the night. I saw these guys with Blackberry Smoke last year, before their album was released and they blew me away. I’m betting that trend continues. Can’t wait to see them again. Then Jon Pardi brings his many hits to the stage before Miranda Lambert does her best to burn the place down. If you see us, say hey!!

The tour takes its name from the lyrics of Miranda’s song “Highway Vagabond” which appears on “The Nerve” side of her 24-song double album, “The Weight Of These Wings.”

Dates include:
• Mar. 01: Knoxville, TN Thompson-Boling Arena
• Mar. 02: Lexington, KY Rupp Arena
• Mar. 03: Cleveland, OH Wolstein Center
• Mar. 08: Omaha, NE CenturyLink Center
• Mar. 09: Oklahoma City, OK Chesapeake Energy Arena

Chris Stapleton Brings Anderson East and Lucie Silvas To Riverbend In Cincinnati, OH

Eastern Kentucky native and current country superstar Chris Stapleton brought his tour to Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati recently. The show was scheduled for earlier this year, but had to be rescheduled due to an injury that Mr. Stapleton had that required surgery.

The original bill included rising star Brent Cobb, Anderson East and of course, Chris Stapleton. Scheduling conflicts forced Brent Cobb off the rescheduled date, which allowed Lucie Silvas to open the show. (more…)
