The 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby was only my second experience at a horse race, preceded only by the Kentucky Oaks the day before. Nothing anyone could have told me would have prepared me for what was about to come when I woke up way too early to get into “Derby attire.” It was finally race day and it was time to make the drive up to Louisville for the most exciting two minutes in sports. If you’ve ever made it to Thunder Over Louisville, you’re well aware that it is very crowded most years. No way around it, 500,000 people take up a lot of real estate. If you’ve never been, you simply HAVE to enjoy your first one at Waterfront Park. The Carl Casper Custom Auto Show has been a tradition in Louisville, KY. In fact, this year’s edition was their 55th anniversary. The format was always the same. If it’s custom, cool, famous or beautiful…it’s welcome. And let me just say, they came in droves. This show was PACKED full of some of the most beautiful vehicles that my eyes have ever seen.
This year the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center held the final gigantic show. With an eclectic array of cars covered most of the Expo Center, as well as hosting the Low Rider Hopping Nationals inside of Freedom Hall.
