Tyler Childers Helps Propel Kentucky Forward At The Paramount In Ashland

Ashland, Kentucky – The Appalachian Regional Commission held their conference in Ashland recently. Their goals are to help Appalachia continue to grow both economically and socially. Their purpose is primarily focused on collaboration and community. While several events were held, the Crown Jewel took place at the historic Paramount Arts Center. The night began with Huntington, West Virginia’s Charlie Brown Superstar. Tyler Childers fans know CBS from his ‘Joyful Noise’ remix versions included on Tyler’s album, ‘Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven.’ He provided a set of classic songs that had his own spin. Louisville’s Bats Are The Perfect Family Experience!

Baseball is back!! That’s a very exciting sentence to type and one that I can’t put enough emphasis on. I’ve been a baseball fan my entire life and with the addition of the pitch clock, the banning of the shift, and the bigger bases, Baseball is more exciting than it has ever been. Game times have decreased by around 30 minutes on average, stolen bases are up, the action has been magnified and even the oldest of old-school purists of the game have taken notice of the effectiveness of the new rules. What’s not to love?! Everybody wins!

Styx Brought All Of Their Hits To Rock The Fans At The Corbin Arena

It was the first concert of the year for the rock group Styx, where they returned to Corbin for their second appearance in Corbin. Styx entertained an audience of around 3000 people at the Corbin Arena. A real gem of a venue tucked away, just off of I-75. Styx has a vast catalog of music, and their hits have spanned across several decades, so it was no surprise that the fans were on their feet and singing along the entire night. Besides, there’s a reason this band has continued to thrive, and it was on full-display in Corbin. It’s their musicianship, closely followed by their showmanship. Styx know how to…

Well, I finished off June at Festival Of The Red just up the road in Slade, so it only seems fitting to close out July with another Kentucky music festival right here in downtown Hazard! Let me ask you, how many music festivals have you been to where someone (Tim Parks) was made an honorary Duke Of Hazard? Zero? Yeah, me too. But that’s just one of the many very cool things that happened at this year’s North Fork Music Festival. You really missed out if you didn’t make either day of this one! Friday evening started with Ben Fugate and I need to apologize to Ben. I missed his…

Steve Earle Brought His Dukes To The Mountain Arts Center In Prestonsburg!

Article by James Stamper / Photos by Thomas R. Biggs Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Guitar Town himself, Steve Earle, made his presence known at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY! I was ecstatic to see Steve Earle and The Dukes perform so close to home! I want to give a special shoutout to the Mountain Arts Center and the Mayor of Prestonsburg, Les Stapleton, for bringing these amazing shows into the eastern part of Kentucky. This brings me so much joy to know that I don’t have to drive 100 miles to see an incredible show. I’ve heard people around this area say, “There’s nothing to do” or “It’s…
