Luke Combs Brought His Hit Parade To Rupp Arena With Ashley McBryde And Drew Parker

I’ve seen well over 1000 artists, probably closer to 2000 to be honest, but few have grown as quickly as Luke Combs. Combs has completely taken over country music with one of the most unique songwriting styles the genre has ever seen.

Combs has a great ability to twist the meanings of his lyrics. He’s blessed with a voice that blends, bends and shapes to whatever he’s singing and in my humble opinion, Luke will be one of the biggest stars that country music has ever seen. Before we get into his set though, let’s discuss Drew Parker and Ashley McBryde’s sets from a chilly Valentine’s night.

Drew Parker was up first to rock Rupp. His style fits the mold of what you hear on terrestrial radio. Stations like 98.1 The Bull love artists like Parker. (more…)

Rye Davis Drops New Single “King Me”, As He Readies His New Album ‘Cut To Tape’

Rye Davis is a name that some may remember as a really good pitcher for Western Kentucky University. Davis went on to play in the minor leagues as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. Unfortunately, as is the case with many others, that didn’t work out for Rye like he had hoped.

Fortunately for us though, Rye decided to pursue a career in music. His first release, ‘A Story To Tell’, is a definite favorite from 2018. A release that often winds up in my personal playlists.

For 2020, Rye has an EP that rolls out on March 27th titled ‘Cut To Tape’. We get our first taste of Rye’s new album in “King Me”. (more…)

There’s No Place Like Home. Tyler Booth Came Home To Celebrate His Recent Signing To Sony Music

Capture Kentucky has been honored to be a small part of the Kentucky music family for nearly three years. We’ve witnessed so many great moments and seen several artists outgrow the confines of our Commonwealth. The Mountain Arts Center has become a rite of passage for artists as they climb the ranks, so on Saturday it was time for Tyler’s journey.

That room has hosted several great Kentucky artists and on Saturday night in Prestonsburg, everyone in attendance became a part of history as Tyler Booth came home for a show at the Mountain Arts Center.

What I just stated, may seem like an exaggeration, so ultimately we need to allow time be the judge and jury, but I saw so many indicators on Saturday that I’m going to simply say that I’m all-in on Tyler Booth.

See, Tyler Booth is a very special artist for Capture Kentucky, but more importantly, he’s a special young man to me on a personal level. I’ve known Tyler and his family for years and while that may cloud some folks judgment, I assure you that I do not allow that relationship to do so. Having said that, I’m going to do my best to help you see, hear and understand why this young man is destined to be a Country superstar.

Before we get to that though, we need to discuss the performances of Chelsea Nolan, and the Laid Back Country Picker. (more…)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. —  Sony Music Nashville and Villa 40 announce the signing of singer/songwriter Tyler Booth to Villa 40/Sony Music Nashville. Booth is the first artist to launch as part of an exclusive, long-term joint-venture agreement between the label group and Villa 40, co-founded by music industry executives including Joe Fisher, Brad Margolis and Trace Ayala.

“I’m so excited to sign with Sony Nashville/Villa 40; they plucked me out of the hills of Kentucky,” Booth said. “They told me they believed in me, loved the music I was making and felt like they wanted to be a part of my future.  I’ve grown to know them like family and feel like it’s where I belong.”

Born and raised in Wolfe County in the Southeastern region of Kentucky, Tyler Booth has been writing songs and honing his craft for years, but, it was his smooth baritone vocals that first caught the attention of producer/songwriter Phil O’Donnell. Hailing from the stomping grounds of John Michael Montgomery, Montgomery Gentry and George Molton, the 23-year-old performs regularly at the famed Austin City Saloon in Corbin, Kentucky. (more…)

EPIC!! The Knight Pikeville Got Shook By Tyler Childers

After a successful show on Friday night, the time had come for me to cover the second night of the Pikeville trifecta. On a personal level, this show was the show that I wanted to see the most. Why? Because Chris Knight is a Kentucky legend that I have never had the opportunity to see live, let alone photograph.

Then you add in the firecracker that is Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, and that is one helluva way to enjoy your Saturday night. (more…)

Geminis, Creekers and Feathered Indians Mark Night One Of Three For Tyler Childers Triumphant Return Home

Being a Kentuckian from the Southeastern part of the state, is something that many folks like to look down upon. Hollywood loves stereotypes, but if Tyler Childers has his way, folks will soon understand just what an honor it really is to blessed to call the Appalachian Mountains our home.

Childers is often mentioned in conversations as being the next Willie Nelson or whoever someone likes to toss out there. I’m here to say, let Tyler be the first Tyler Childers. Now having said that, there is one aspect that I too will use as a comparison between Willie and Tyler. Willie does things his way and often times his tours are filled with musicians and family members and in that regard, Willie is the epitome of “A rising tide lifts all ships.” (more…)

Exclusive Premiere! Lexington’s Sour Cream Drops Their New Single, ‘Hey Holly’

Lexington’s Sour Cream is a band that has held my attention since I first read about them. I’m sure you’re curious where I first heard of them, so follow along for the next couple of paragraphs, you’ll appreciate this one or at least be intrigued by it.

I have known several of the gentlemen in The Kentucky Headhunters for years. Guitarist Greg Martin is truly one of the most genuine, loving and positive individuals that I’ve ever had the pleasure to have met. I respect Greg on many levels, so trusting him when it comes to music, is an absolute no-brainer. (more…)
